Eden Project North community conversation: March 2021

We haven't yet confirmed the details of how Eden Project North will be powered but we are working very hard to ensure the project has exceptional credentials in terms of its environmental performance.

We have a strong track record of championing renewables at our Cornwall site (we are currently building one of the first geothermal power plants in the UK there) and will continue that work in Morecambe.

While we continue to develop concepts for allowing people to enjoy the bay as part of their visit, the built development is fully contained by the public promenade and does not encroach or interface directly with the shoreline.

Eden Project North will include several amazing indoor and covered zones, including a zone that will feature a “perpetual spring”. As in Cornwall, we will also create a year-round programme of seasonal events, making regular visits worthwhile no matter what the weather or season!

We are working with the Eden Project North partners to help develop a holistic local transport and tourism strategy that will encourage visitors to stay and explore more of the amazing assets of the town and the Bay. This includes consideration of more varied shuttle bus routes and stops.

We are confident that our business case for Eden Project North is strong and we are having continuing constructive conversations with the Government about investment. We are hopeful for an announcement of funding in a forthcoming fiscal event.

Our conversations with private and philanthropic investors are also ongoing. In the meantime, we are fully committed to submitting our planning application this summer.
